Village Pizzeria

We had the chance to speak with Erin Manacker, in charge of media for Village Pizzeria with locations on North Larchmont and Yucca Street (Hollywood).  When asked what makes Village Pizzeria so different, Erin’s answer was “Most definitely the owners, Steve and Nancy.”  An eclectic place, known for its amazing pizza pies and client construed pizza creations, Village Pizzeria has been nothing less than a labor of love for the husband and wife team.  It’s a bit of quintessential New York, in the fresh ingredients and demand for pizza quality, plus a dash of San Francisco flavor, which speaks to Steve’s history in the city of Love.  Add in a whole lot of small town, everybody-knows-your-name feeling in the great city of LA, and you have Village Pizzeria.

It’s certainly a place to call home in the big city.  An interesting mix of décor with street signs from the owner’s home town (New York), San Francisco Giants paraphernalia, and ticket stubs from LA events, classic rock memorabilia adorn the walls, further integrating the 2 coasts and upping the familial feeling for locals and visitors alike.  It only takes one look around to see that everyone here is family, including the patrons and employees.

Atmosphere aside, the thing that makes Village Pizzeria truly great is of course its food.  The owners are picky about pizza, and “rules” about adding extra sauce (a big no-no as it makes the pizza soggy) or delivering out of a certain radius (also not acceptable) speak to the pride and care put into each slice.  Interesting pizza combinations are allowed, however, with client requests on par with the eclectic décor.  (Try Hawaiian Ravioli on for size).
